How To: Giant Altoids Lunch Box.
By ChrisjobClever reuse of the all-purpose Altoids tin is a rite of passage for any DIYster, but turning something else entirely INTO an Altoids tin? Well, that's just plain fun.
"Whether you're off to school or work, you need something to pack your lunch or snack. Just
like the Flintstones, don't forget your lunch pail. There is a mini-Altoids lunch box but that will not do if you have a hero, grinder, po'boy or submarine sandwich. Make a custom giant A » READ MORE
Guerilla Art Installations in Big Box Home Improvement Stores.
By Chrisjob
Regine at WeMakeMoneyNotArt writes,
"Encastrable is a series of guerrilla art residencies held inside gardening and DIY megastores in the Paris area... At no cost at all, the young artists have at their disposal a huge array of material that they can grab, move, superimpose, and organize onto temporary installations and sculptures. Authorization of the manager of the establishment is obviously never requested."

How To: Create Spot-On Box Joints.
By Chrisjob
Box joints, also called finger joints or comb joints, are really quite strong and have an attractive, handmade appeal which looks good on, well, everything.
And you're welcome to cut and chisel each one by hand...but, with this easy jig, you don't have to, and unless you're a purist, there's no reason not to crank them out by the dozens. This is designed for a router table, but the same approach would work for a table saw and dado blade.

Turn a Cereal Box into a Gift Box
By Doug Aamoth
This isn't the first time that people have made cereal boxes into gift boxes (see this Curbly post for more ideas) but this method looks pretty cool in that, when all is said and done, you can't really tell that it was a cereal box to begin with.
You'll need a hot glue gun, scissors, and a cereal box. That's about it, so get eating -- that box isn't going to empty itself!

Cereal boxes turned acrylic for the ultimate light fixture
By Doug Aamoth
This oughta bring back some memories. Cincinnati artist Matt Kotlarczyk has perfected the art of transferring everyone's favorite sugar cereal box artwork "onto heavy acrylic with ultra violet-protected inks. Some low-watt flourescent light bulbs get placed behind the delicious-looking stained glass, as it were, and hung on your wall or from the ceiling.
Pricing is available upon request from Matt's aptly-named Refined Sugar Studio web page. I » READ MORE
Make a Cereal Box Magazine Organizer.
By Chrisjob
I cringe everytime I put a cereal box in the recycling bin. Sure, it's better than tossing it in the trash, but there's such stiff yet pliable material in my hands, yet at that moment, I'm not clever enough to come up with a project for its re-use. Luckily, someone else is (though I bet it wasn't the mogul herself)...
Materials
- Large, sturdy cereal box
- Craft knife
- Straight edge
- Decorative paper
- Spray adhesive

Bottle Box Drawer Table
By Cornelius Craft Well, what I've got here is a remarkable piece of furniture. I created it using a filing cabinet drawer, some wood from a box spring I took apart, a beer bottle, some xmas lights, and a good deal of happy thoughts and other assorted 'found' items.I didn't really have a plan for this project, just an idea. I'm very happy with the way this piece turned out. It is quite sturdy and I use it for a magazine rack and sidetable for my mos » READ MORE
A space of her own: how I built Angel an indoor doghouse
By alexrussell
Every bed we’ve ever bought for our Rat Terrier Angel, our American Staffordshire Ana has managed to squeeze herself into by morning. What Angel needed was a space of her own. I just happened to have a cardboard box lying around the house.
The box I had was a lot bigger than the house would be, so I cut it down and used the extra for the roof. If you have a box big enough for the house as is, have a second box for the roof. Total time for cons » READ MORE
