DIY - Baby Changing Table
By suzyrenovator

I've always loved giving old or antique items a new lease on life by transforming them or re-purposing them for use as something other than what they were originally intended. A perfect example - the dirty, old singer sewing machine base that was picked up for next to nothing at a flea market then left to sit in my garage collecting more dirt and taking up space until I could find a use for it. When I became pregnant and began the fun pro » READ MORE
A Priceless Hand Tool
By DIY Maven
The duty of a hand tool is a simple one. Its existence is predicated upon helping you get a job done and done well. But sometimes, when a particular person has used a hand tool, it becomes more than just hardware. For instance, a screwdriver once owned by Thomas Edison is going to have more monetary and emotional significance than my handy 4 in 1. Or the Stanley No. 3 level pictured above. It was the only possession my dad had that once belonged » READ MORE

Can You Really Re-cover an Old Lampshade?
By ModHomeEcTeacher
No, I didn't recover this. When Shabby Chic still ran the antique malls, this retro shade was huddled in the corner like a weird uncle. I think it cost me around $12.00. That purchse was a few years ago.
But you can, I repeat, CAN, recover an old shade you might find at Goodwill or a flea market. They are ruined once the big crease takes place. These step by step directions make a DIY lampshade re-do a real possibility. I used to k » READ MORE

Giving your kitchen cozier look (with Antique Copper Tin look ceiling tiles)
By faustHello everyone,
Just wanted to share with you the details of one of our latest projects. We installed PVC glue on ceiling tile in the kitchen ceilings.
-
First - we snapped a chalk line through the main focal point in that room - light fixture.

Help me identify this desk? please?
By bhikkhu
We came across this desk at an antique mall a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, someone had purchased it just a few minutes before we had gotten there.
The back part (letter boxes and compartments) actually hinges backwards so that you can have a full flat top desk. When you lift it up (as pictured) the back of the desk has paper sized compartments for storing additional paper.
It's pretty brilliant, and I love the look... but I don't know anyt » READ MORE
