What won't you give up in this economy?

By DIY Maven

MWT has drawn a line in the sand. We will continue to shop for groceries at the co-op even though we could save 20% of our grocery expenses by going to our local food super store. I've decided I don't need any new clothes any time soon. Books are a different story. (Gotta have my books.) I'll be passing on any new DVDs, except maybe when the 2nd season of The Big Bang Theory comes out. (I'll play a game of Rock, Paper, Lizard, Scissors, Spock with MWT to decide.) » READ MORE

Sayonara Domino Magazine

By lilybee

Domino Magazine is the latest casualty of the crazy economy (and arguably the rise of Internet journalism). March's issue will be the last on newsstands and WORSE they'll be turning the lights out on their awesome and always inspiring website. I'll be heading over to the 'site to peruse and grab inspiration before it's gone. If you need a quick reminder of what was so awesome about Domino how 'bout:

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 11/23/08

One way to experience intimacy with your kitchen is to patch holes, prime and paint.  It's the only time your head is literally up in the corner of the walls and ceiling and skimming the floor while you do the painting cut-in work down at the baseboards.  There's no getting around the familiarity after discovering the waves and warps of drywall, hairline cracks at the ceiling line and a little too much gap between the baseboard and wallboard. You discover these endearing qualities of your kitchen after spending long hours together.  Once you know its strengths and weaknesses, you know you'll be able to bring out the best in your kitchen.  » READ MORE

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 11/06/08

My Recycled Inside Out Throw Pillow ensemble are handily made out of shirts, jackets or skirts that either button up the front or have a long zipper closure.  The beauty of this is that there's no need to handstitch a pillow closed or insert a zipper or add buttons or buttonholes.  Look for modern patterns and stylish color combinations while shopping for "vintage" and I mean CHEAP used apparel that you can easily transform.
