How to make a horizontal shoe rack (a la DWR)

By DIY Maven

Not Martha gets very Martha-like with this horizontal shoe rack inspired by DWR's j-me shoe rack, which is on sale for $93.50 to $140.25 each. Although Not Martha doesn't say how much hers/his/their version cost, you can bet that it was a fraction of the DWR price.

DIY DWR's ‘Tablo Table’

By DIY Maven

DWR’s Tablo Table ($200) is basically a metal serving tray/bowl perched on teak legs. To go the DIY route, I’d find an appropriate shallow bowl–metal or otherwise–and then construct the legs around it. For outdoor applications, I’d even consider using a large terra cotta saucer for the bowl.

Seeking Herman Miller Soft Pad Management Chair in CA

By Cracker

Hi,

I am looking or a used / vintage Herman Miller Soft Pad Management chair in or near LA.  Also willing to ship within reasonable distance.  I prefer black leather, wheels, and the tilt mechanism.

Great chair right?  Have you seen one for sale?  Have one you want to sell?   I have been trolling eBay and craigslist for weeks and weeks looking for a real one.  Lots of Blueprint knock-off's out there, but I am looking the authentic He » READ MORE

Please Help Me Fix My Hang-It-All!

By Chrisjob

I picked up an Eames Hang-It-All on a recent trip to the DWR Warehouse sale.

Two of the horizontal pieces (yellow/pink and green/purple) were not attached, as seen in this photo:

How should I fix this? Epoxy? Industrial Strength Adhesive? Can it be welded or soldered without screwing up the white powder coat?

DWR’s Opus

By DIY Maven

At first glance, the Opus Shelving System looks rather inefficient, in the realm of book storage that is, and forget about shelving alphabetically by the author’s last name. However, it sure does look cool when fully stocked. It’s made out of recyclable polypropylene, which means it can be used indoors and out, although you might not want to put books in it if you chose an outdoor venue. Anyhoo, the 39" by 39" by 14" Opus comes in white or black » READ MORE

Minneapolis Home Featured on Dwell.com

By DIY Maven

dwell.com is featuring a home renovation of a lovely little Cape Cod located in the Linden Hills area of Minneapolis. At only 1600 square feet, the modern interior esthetic evokes spaciousness yet outwardly, the home blends well with the surrounding residences. Visit the on-line slide show for a great tour–and note the interior elements amassed from the expensive to the affordable, including DWR, Room & Board and IKEA. Fabulous.

DWR Wee Chair Contest

By beccajo

DWR's super fun contest to create a chair from a Champagne Bottle (cork, wire, label and foil, but NOT the glass....sorry) is this MONDAY.  If you don't have a bottle of bubbly just sittin' around, you can stop by one of their stores and get a free kit. Info on past winners, here.

Good luck everyone! Don't know if I'll submit my 'Ice Cream Parlor' chair, but knowing my little cousins love them is enough reward for me!!!!
