Retro American Diner Style Furniture.

By Chrisjob

The 1950's: There's the overabundance of kitsch, and then there's doing it well. Cola Red stands out from shopping mall nostalgia stores, offering fine 1950s dinette sets from original manufacturers. I'm digging on these Corvette and Brooklyn sets. Chairs, stools, tables, and full sets are available in extensive vinyl and laminate options.

By Chrisjob

Amy Shutt from Day-Lab DIY shares her recent find: mid-century issues of House and Garden Magazine.

I think I'm in love: Russel Wright

By amorcitos

If you're a married man, you know what being a "dead man" feels like. But Russel Wright is, literally, a dead man. And no, I'm not a pervert. It's his work I love.

My husband (a non-corpse, thank God) and I went to a modernism auction in Denver last month, and just for kicks I bid on a set of Russel Wright dishes. Kind of hodge-podge, but I didn't care. All I really wanted was to try my hand at an auction. Totally by accident, we fell in love.

Leisurama! The Home of the Future! (And exclamation points!)

By bruno

I don't know about you, but my dream has always been to live in a home inspired Nikita Krushchev and Richard Nixon. That's why I was so excited to find out about the Leisurama, a late 1950s-era prefab home inspired by the Krushchev-Nixon kitchen debate.

The homes, which were sold by Macy's beginning in 1963, were sold for around $10,000, and came fully furnished with appliances, fixtures, plates and even toothbrushes. Take that, commies!
