Tip: Plumbing Fixture Sources

By sparkie

Tip:  When you buy plumbing fixtures, try to get them at a local plumbing supply house vs a Big Box store.  I learned at a pro plumber website that quality of items are lesser at Big Box in some cases.  Example:  Faucet manu make the same faucet but use plastic parts for Big Box and metal for pro suppliers.  Even tho they look exactly the same, they may not be.

Bathroom sinks:  I needed a very shallow sink for my current bath remodel.  I went to Renovator's Supply.com and they had many sinks, among other materials.  I found several that would work for me.

I suspected there were other building materials that this would apply to.  Thanks for adding.

This tip also applies to other items sold at the big box stores as well.  For example, I was able to purchase significantly better quality carpet from a local dealer than from the big box for a slightly higher cose, plus the local shop employed their own installers instead of subcontracting out the job to the lowest bidders.   The carpet brand name was the same, but the quality was much, much better.
