New Year...New Beginnings...Getting Organized..Planner

By sparkie

Hi There!

OK, I really should get a planner and write down things instead of keeping them all rotating and revolving thru my mind.  Especially for to-do lists.  (I can make a hellofa long Honey-Do list to myself).

I tend to have a few, read: longgggggggg list of tasks I wish to do, planned daily.  If I write it down I may be more realistic on what I can actually accomplish and can see what I have already done.  It can be fun to make a list and scratch things off.

Being me, I am now stalled on what type of planner, format, details, etc.  I can see me getting stuck on this for awhile.  Only thought so far is use a loose leaf so I can add/change as time goes by.  I don't need much appt space, more like: P/u material at big box store, finish installing the new lav sink, drop off donations, research subject on internet, etc.  Some tasks are large so I need to break down into subs so as to not scare myself.

Any tips or advice?

i am an unapologetic planner addict. you name it, i've got one. currently awaiting a momAgenda so that i can switch from my huuuuge covey planner which is not working with my gimpy elbow (i had elbow surgery in may). momagendas are seriously good looking planners and, they've got one not specifically for moms called myplanner. also recommended are the mSystem planner and the Whomi which has a great modern looking design. Not a whole lot of planner look the way i, as a designer, want them to look. oh...don't forget russell and hazel's smart date system.

Thank you for the suggestions.  The website name sounds fitting and love the idea of "stress-free productivity".

Read David Allen's book called "Getting Things Done - The Art of Stress Free Productivity"...a great system for dealing with "Projects" and then breaking them down into "Next Actions".

The www.diyplanner.com website (mentioned below) also talks about Allen's book.

It's the only way I get anything done around here.  At any given moment I have about 10 projects going on in our house simultaneously.

good luck.  happy new year.
