Any Websites Speciific to Cape Cod Architecture?

By sparkie

Hi There!  I am restoring/remodeling a 1930's cape cod in the midwest, near a lake.  I have been trying to gather info about cape cods. I would like to find a website specific to this.  I have searched the internet.  I'm being influenced by cottage style also.  Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks for your time!

Winter Weather in the Midwest

By sparkie It's -6 degrees outside (yes, 6 digits BELOW zero) so I decided to change my profile pic to a warmer time of year.  Boat riding in Brazil.   The seats in the back were boring. :)  I got fresh air, warm breezes and beautiful views!

Tip: Plumbing Fixture Sources

By sparkie

Tip:  When you buy plumbing fixtures, try to get them at a local plumbing supply house vs a Big Box store.  I learned at a pro plumber website that quality of items are lesser at Big Box in some cases.  Example:  Faucet manu make the same faucet but use plastic parts for Big Box and metal for pro suppliers.  Even tho they look exactly the same, they may not be.

Bathroom sinks:  I needed a very shallow sink for my current bath remodel.  I wen » READ MORE

OT..Mardi Gras, Locate NOLA Person-Sammy

By sparkie

Hi,

OT...Locate person working in New Orleans:  I may go for my 2nd visit to New Orleans, La (NOLA) for Mardi Gras & maybe some volunteering-they still need alot of help.

First time I was a volunteer (unofficial Red Cross, construction, animal rescue, military/police & concerned citizen) and shared a tent at a grassroots animal rescue group in a Winn-Dixie parking lot in Orleans Parish.  I am trying to re-locate tentmate, born in NOLA, who move » READ MORE

Freinds Requests

By sparkie I'm so sharp.  I just accidentily discovered some old pending friend requests, including Bruno's from 19 days ago.  I suppose it's not nice to take days and days to accept friendship from the website designer/founder! I guess he's ok.  LOL!

Bath Remodel, During, Suggestions/Advice?

By sparkie

Hi There!  Some of you know I have a whole house to remodel, affectionately named "Former Carnie Crackhead Foreclosed" house.  (I hope no one thought I was the crackhead....ha!)  2nd floor bath is the first room I am concentrating on.  I think I now have a fairly clear image of the expected results.  I am not a designer, but a handicapped-like DIY'er.  (Handicapped cause I seem to have to screw up alot before I finally get it good....plan J or K » READ MORE

OT...Dust Bunnies

By sparkie

Where do dust bunnies come from?

I was thinking of that when I was shop vaccing my bedroom aka clean room here at the "former carnie crackhead-construction site home" I am living/working in.  I expect to see sawdust but am impressed at the amount of dust.  I have zero carpeting, few soft cloth items like curtains & rugs, not doing laundry here yet.  So, where is it coming from?  I am thinking the the bunnies are mainly formed from lint from fab » READ MORE

?Recycle Old WIndow Weights-Uses?

By sparkie

Hi There,

I am proud to announce that I have finished installing my first replacement windows (10 now, more later this yr) in my foreclosed "Carnie Crackhouse".  (I accidentily got italics..oops) I had to replace the original 1934 single paned leaking, high maintenance windows.  Purists and maybe most designers would be mad/unhappy but I was willing to trade real wood for low/no maintenance in this case, in my part of the world.

Anyway, have (40) » READ MORE
