Hey Sparkie. After my husband read my "What's Out" post, he was all over me about the bamboo results of the survey. I did a little research. You (and he) are correct. I bow to the masters! I added a comment to the post to help remove the possible tarnish to bamboo's reputation. The reason hubby is so hot for bamboo? He's a big fan of everything renewable. (As we all should be.)

I actually live north of the lake, but Curbly doen't let you state the exact location only a region (ie. Baton Rouge, New Orleans) so NOLA is the closest so I chose that one. Hotel rooms will be expensive this time of year because of Mardi Gras and because some of them are not open. Also if the guy works for the city you can contact the parish government (Orleans Parish). I hope this info was helpful.

Let me know what you think of the paint-preview deal. I haven't gotten the stainless steal paint kit yet, but I'll give you my "review" when I get it.
About the "sideways" room. Great for photo ops, but otherwise...I think I'll pass. Instead of that, I'd like someone to teach me how to dance on walls and ceilings like Fred Astair used to do. Now that would be an accomplishment. ;)

Ain't no thing, Shug. I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel myself. You didn't come off as cranky, just driven. (or tired). And that is a sentiment I can really relate to. Bath renos are just horrible. I'd rather do my kitch 3x over and that was quite awful too. Hope yours goes smoothly. And thanks for the post.

Hey Sparkie! The on-line paint previewer is great for paint-hater-picker-outers! And good news about cork accumulation--you can actually buy used ones on Ebay...but maybe not as fun as draining the bottles yourself! Also, the sanded light bulb thing, I forgot to mention that it will work on those light fixture globe things. I think that would make a nice diffused light. Also, no problem with overheating, I'd think. Sorry to hear you don't have Bravo!! I'm hoping they will provide video highlights on their website. Otherwise, I'll post pics of the good, the bad and the ugly. You can comment that way and join in on the fun! ;)

hi! OK, gimme the rundown on distressed paint as realistically, that might be the easiest and less "typical" look as our apt is vintage 1910 and the screen is typical Florida lounge 1946!!!
We can work outside, easy. We have both a backporch and a parking lot and hey, it is sunny all year!!!!

Sparkle--re: Bamboo screen. I think the ideal finsih would be back to original wood color as much as possible (the crannies will always have a little white paint I am afriad) with maybe a buffed-look gloss--not shiny, just buffed looking, if that makes sense or is even possible! Do you know?

Youngest child of six stuffed in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house out in the middle of nowhere. If we didn't laugh we would have killed each other!
Humor-writing-wise, my insipiration comes from people like David Sedaris and Carl Hiaasen. So far, they are the only writers I've found that make me laugh out loud when I read them. (Keep in mind my speciality in undergrad school was 19th century English literature. Go figure?)
I'm really glad you like the posts. I never know if people are going to "get me" when I'm trying to be funny!
