Candy Corn Flower Arrangement

My entry is a 'Flower Arrangement' made using Candy Corn. My original idea was to make flowers out of Candy Corn by making it into a gum paste and actually shaping it into realistic looking flowers, but that didn't work out as I planned. I got the Candy Corn to mold, but it would not harden. I finally decided to just try to make flowers out of whole Candy Corn and this is what I came up with.

So, these are pretty simple to make. The hardest part is making sure you don't burn yourself with the glue gun. You decide on a flower you want to make, for example, my Daisy-like one. For the center, I balled up a small piece of paper and wrapped it in the floral tape, then poked the sharp end of the skewer into the center, but not all the way through. (To make it extra strong, pull the skewer out and put some hot glue on the end and push it back into the ball.) Then I wrapped the rest of the skewer in floral tape to make the stem. Now you can start gluing the candy on. I first put 5 around the middle of the ball yellow end down, (evenly spaced out) then when I finished that part, I went back and put on 5 more white tip down in the space left between the other 5, angled slightly upward.

That's just one type that I made, but you can be creative and make any type of flower that you'd like. You may even think of better/easier ways to make these. After I made all of the flowers, I filled the bottom of the vase with Candy Corn to finish it off.

I had fun doing this because I have never used Candy Corn to make something else. It's actually very fun to work with, and slightly more difficult to work with than I thought it would be. Happy Halloween!

Wire cutters (to cut bamboo skewers)
