Unused room...

By smashuri

Okay... I have a 2 bedroom place but moved in at an awkward time so I have no roommate (but I do have an extra room to myself).
Messy! EW! As you can see its horribly messy, I'm going through my old work and sorting it. And my friend and I got bored and made a fort in the corner. I aslo have a decent desk in there that I will probably turn into a workstation in the corner where that fort is. Basically, it's a bunch of crap and doesn't reflect the rest of my place at allllll (think asian, contemporary, deep brown wood... or just look at this

But even with the mess gone, its still an empty room. I was thinking of either finding a really low table (I have no clue where) and making pillows to set around it so its like a huge asian worktable with a cutting board (I'm a Graphic Design student). I want to be able to set up my sewing machine and have my friends bring their laptops so it'll be like a chill place to work. Thats the only real idea I have.

Basically I'm asking this... WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAD AN ENTIRE ROOM TO YOURSELF? The artsier and crazier the better. And keep in mind, I might have to just pack all of this up and put it in storage if I ever get a roommmate. So that means nothing too expensive and no installations! HELP ME FELLOW CURBLIES!

definately do the table thing! i also love what you and you friend were thinking with the tent. i think that the perfect corner for that. try some other idea though. maybe something along the lines of a pagoda or just install a window bench with some curtains infront of it. check out this picture ( http://www.minima.us/outdoor/modulo_tergola.html) i love the clean line of the pull down curtains. you could use thos bamboo blinds that cost $8 each at world market. good luck!

I would get the low table (hack off legs if needed) and set up a creative workspace.

I really like the low table idea.  Scour the local thrift shops and craigslist for full size dining tables in simple rectangular design.  You can chop off the legs and paint (customize) the thing to your liking.  Decorative molding might be nice too.  But yeah, low table, some nice cushions, rolling storage for supplies in ottomans?  It's a nice space.
