It's easy to find cool patio furniture - but it will usually cost you a pretty penny. And most of the affordable pieces are just plain ugly. But we were sure that there must be some chic and affordable dining sets out there, so we set out to find them. And now we're sharing our findings with you!
We have a lot of thrift store finds in our home - how about you? Firstly because we can't walk away from a good deal when we see one! And secondly, I just love a simple challenge to see what I can do to breath new life into an old and neglected piece. Take for example this hot pink stool I found for $3! I actually didn't mind the color too much, but what I really loved about it was how solid it was and the fact that you don't see a lot of stools with only 3 legs. So, I had to have it! I decided to convert it to a small side table for our daughters room, but she can still use it as a stool if need be. Continue Reading
Oh. My. Goodness. A glowing table. I mean, seriously, how cool is that? The process might seem daunting, but it sounds like it's pretty easy. This particular table was made out of a piece of Pecky Cypress, but any species with voids (the more the better!) could work too. The glowing bit comes from clear casting resinContinue Reading
IKEA hacks are always a hit here on Curbly, and it's easy to see why. They're creative, affordable and completely customizable for your own home. So here are ten fantastic ones that I've been ogling recently.
Ever since we moved into our new home, I've been itching to find another great coffee table for our living room. I absolutely love our reclaimed wood coffee table that we currently have, but I wanted to switch things up a bit and try something new. After doing a lot of online shopping I found that everything was either a bit more than I was willing to spend or not quite the right shape or size for our space. So, we came up with our very own design, a mid-century modern-inspired boomerang table!
As a plant lover, I am all for the latest big tropical leaf trend you might see popping up in design and fashion lately! It's fresh, vibrant and celebrates the beauty of nature into every day life. I've been trying to find unique ways to incorporate this look in our home and decided to try something a little unexpected by creating a playful tropical leaf side table!
Over the years, we've seen countless furniture makeovers done with nothing but paint and a lot of creativity. Today we give you the ones that top our all-time most memorable list...for good and, yes, some for ill too, based upon the collective conscious of ourContinue Reading
I have a love/hate relationship with banquettes (aka kitchen booth things). I love them because because of their ability to tuck into small spaces yet provide a lot of seating. I hate them because they're built in and can't be moved, unlike furniture. And then there's that "what happens when the dude in the center needs to get out?" thing. "Excuse me.Continue Reading
This is, hands down, one of the coolest DIY desk ideas I've seen in a while. Sure, industrial pipes, trestle legs, and the occasional hairpin-leg-plus-plywood desk are all great projects. But what if you could up the ante with a custom epoxy tabletop? Here's how to do it -- the easy way! Continue Reading
Last week, I shared the results of our fun and quirky master bedroom makeover. (Take a peek here if you missed it!) In it, we included a pair of IKEA nightstands that were treated to a simple yet colorful makeover. Check it out below! Continue Reading
Everyone should have a credenza, buffet, or side table somewhere that they can style differently throughout the year. It's great to have a space that is basically just sitting there, waiting for you to try out different styles on it. Think of it like a painter's sketchbook; a place to explore design ideas that you might later develop more fully throughout your house.
This year, we were excited to participate in Sauder's "Put Together" Design Challenge this spring, because few things are as fun as dressing up a piece of furniture and making it your own. Read along to find out my three steps for styling a credenza.Continue Reading
Accent furniture is important in making a room feel complete. But it can break the bank when finding the right pieces! Here are 10 ottomans, poufs, and coffee tables that are good-looking and budget-friendly at $60 or under!
I went to IKEA over the weekend (along with everyone else in my city, apparently), and my little DIY blogger brain couldn't help but start 'hacking' everything in the store. Fortunately, there are others out there with a similar mindset and they've already done a lot of the legwork! Here are 10 of our favorite IKEA hacks we've come across recently. Enjoy! Confession: I've always be jealous of people who can take an old piece of furniture and turn it into a quality piece in their home. More so than ever after I came across this before and after by Sarah Hearts. I've seen this style of table here and there at thrift stores, but never wanted it in my home as is (and I didn't know what to do with it). Turns out, you don't have to go overboard to make something look beautiful. A fewContinue Reading
