Every home needs a "landing strip": that place near the door to put your keys, sunglasses, phone, mail, purses, things you need to take with you, and all the other important stuff that comes in and out of your home everyday. A basket is a great idea, or a storage bench, or a small shelf.
OR...You could make these mod, space-y storage pods from a household staple! Guess… Continue Reading

As with mason jars, there seems to be no limit on what you can do with a discarded pallet. We've shared quite a few projects in the past, but this may be the simplest/easiest of the bunch!… Continue Reading

This DIY project has "Scandinavian Modern" written all over it! It's also one of those "why didn't I think of that?" ideas. The white and wood combo is at once classic, modern, and trendy. For color lovers like myself, I'd suggest experimenting with bold hues - maybe even neon if you're feeling… Continue Reading

Until my dream of living in a Scandinavian Modern cabin comes to fruition, I'll just be content with simple flourishes of inspired decor and accessories like this rustic modern coat stand. It's a gorgeous little piece that packs a big ol' Scandinavian punch - and its DIY rating is off the… Continue Reading

We recently moved into a rental condo where, among a bazillion other rules, we can't paint our walls. Which is unfortunate, because the last tennants "touched up" with flat paint over the existing eggshell finish. It makes for an interesting pattern on the walls, but I digress. During spring cleaning season, we wait for the days where it's warm enough to open the windows and air out the house, and do some serious scrubbing to get rid of the worst odor offenders. And when all's back to neutral, it's time to fill your home with a fresh, clean scent.
Most chemical-based air fresheners are 1) bad for you 2) bad… Continue Reading

It's perfectly suitable for the job but, let's face it, my perpetually sliding stack of paper could use some help. And don't even get me started on the ribbons which, as a girl barely pushing 5'4", are annoyingly out-of-reach.
I know I'm not the only one with A) a wrapping paper hoarding problem and B) a wrapping paper storage problem. Fortunately, I've discovered some pretty nifty DIY storage solutions that I think you're all going to love... and possibly geek out… Continue Reading
