What i have done is made a sculpture out of half inch copper pipe and shined the pipe up with the plumbers sand cloth. I love that shiny look and would like to keep it that way. As far as the clearcoat goes would i want to use a spray? possibly take the sculpture to a body shop and have them spray it ? or is there a product out there i could buy and spray the pipe with myself?

-My main goal is to keep the shine and prevent oxidation . I have read about different lacquers and i am a little confused on the different products on the market. If there is anyone on this site who has done anything like what i am talking about and could provide pics that would be a great help too!

Thanks

-Mike

The copper will oxidize as you work with it (the oils from your hands will accelerate this process).  When you've completed your work you'll have to clean it and clear coat it.

Inside, just use a spray lacquer. Outside, I'm not sure what would work on metal, but you might try something like a spar varnish.
