Redecorating on the cheap

I was pretty tired of my "same old living room." You know, you want a change of surroundings. I've been reading Amy Sedaris' "I Like Everybody - Entertaining Under the Influence" (great book, by the way!) and there's one tongue-in-cheek tip she said: Redecorate your apartment every month, that way you feel like you're moving all the time! I thought that was hysterical at the time, then I thought, why NOT do that every so often to alleviate the boredom? So, a friend of mine sent out a e-mail with a few things for sale out of her apartment because she'd purchased new, and one was an area rug for $10, in red.
