I also agree with all of the above- a large, vibrant modernist painting that picks up the blue of the cushions where you've currently got the 3 small square ones; a smallish coffee table as you've not got much room for manouvre between the fireplace & window- maybe a glass-topped one; perhaps some colourful glass or ceramics on the mantlepiece- draw attention to that part of the room- it's such a lovely fireplace

At first I would say add some bright color; then I saw your TV there. If this is your entertainment center room, then bright colors might distract you from watching TV. Picking up from the blue from your pillow, perhaps you can pick a blue of the same hue but of a darker shade and use it as an accent wall for the TV wall; and the rest, you can use a muted blue tone for the other walls. Since you have dark furniture and so much wood around, the current earthy rug does not bring much life to the room. I recommend a rug with some color to match. Also, you may consider hanging a large mirror above one of the couches. Hope this helps.

I know this isn't advice, but I just had to say that I LOVE your French doors. Those are fantastic!

Yeah, I agree with TM that a coffee table would add some focus to the room. I love all the natural woodwork though!

You have some great big blank walls there, how about some paintings?

I think you need some brighter colors and more on the walls. How about a different rug, with more colors and/or a geometric pattern that fits with the square shapes that are all around the room (in your doors, TV stand, wall decor, etc.) ? That would brighten things up, since the room seems like it's dark at the bottom and light at the top. I would also put something above the TV, maybe something like you have over the couch (or just move those over to the TV, and put a large picture or mural over the couch instead. ) The other thing you might do is adjust the way those three squares on the wall draw your eye up to the ceiling. Unless you have something up there to see, you might consider rearranging them so that they keep your eye level with the room.

A small, narrow coffee table might be nice, too.
