Forgot to mention this: go through your closets, cupboards (bath, kitchen, garage, wherever) and get rid of anything that hasn't been worn or used or is expired (like old medicines).

Wash/dryclean your mattress pad, duvets, bedspreads, and blankets. Flip your mattress and vacuum it. Give all of your bedding a serious cleaning. Take inventory of your linen closet and get rid of/replace the worn out, faded, and grungy. Something as simple as a nice new bathmat can be a big improvement.

I'm always surprised at the cobwebs that accumulate on ceilings and in corners. And ewwww... the pet hair tucked in corners always gets me.

Windows!  Clean windows can really brighten a room.

For baseboards, I heavily dilute Murphy's Oil Soap and pour it into a spray bottle.  Squirt, wipe, done.
