How Can I Divide up My Room?

I am currently going to school in California, but I was thinking about how I can fix up my room at my parents house once I get home. I have a lot of stuff (I'm a bit of a pack-rat), and I only have the one room to keep it all in. It's a rectangular room with no real privacy once you enter it-- you can see everything from the get go, and I've always hate that. Dorm Dreams

Anyone know of ways that I can make my dorm a little more cozy, without annoying my roommate too much [we have offending styles]? I've put up posters and I have a bookshelf and try to make good use of my space, but i'm still not feeling it. And her side is almost completely bare. I have little to no money, but are there any little things I could do to make it feel more like a home and less like a prison cell? »MORE
California Living

Though I currently live in a very nice dorm, and will be living in it for at least 1 more year [probably 2], i'm keeping me eye out for nice places to live in SoCal that aren't too expensive. That's nigh impossible. Just out of curiosity, I asked my boyfriend what he currently pays for his one bedroom apartment-- it's pretty nice. kitchen, bathroom, dining area, living room, balcony, laundry room... but I feel so cramped in it.
