MAKE SHIFT SHIKIBUTON & TATAMI MATS?

By ngbling

So, I'm new CURBLY but having much fun surfing and reading all the great ideas! WELL, i just moved into a new, brand spanking new flat with nothing inside. It's quite apacious, so I don't really need a futon, but I like firm, low beds and the idea of having the freedom to change it up in my room! Plus, it's more green than a mattress.

I'm trying to cut the cost and looked around the SF area to see if I can pick up the order instead of shipping. I found places that make custom tatami/shikibuton (Momen) but it's a pretty heify price if i get a "full bed", especially knowing I might be moving out of state again in a year. Any suggestions on something similar, but still good for my back?

Also, for people in the SF area, any suggestions on used/second hand furniture?

Ikea has some mattress options.  I think.

You want to be able to change it around, you want a firm, low bed, you don't want a mattress, you don't want to pay too much. I don't understand, why not just get a futon?
