A HUGE DIY DAY

By: Lcioffibrachio May 22, 2012

I had such a good day today. I decided when I woke up I would have a Lauren day, and I would do all the fun things I had been wanting to do all week. Well I did..and it was awesome! A while back I posted this DIY on making your own necklace out of an old ring. You can see the post here. If you didn’t read it, the reason I wanted to do this was because my husband and I have matching rings that are memorable to us. I never wear mine anymore,… Continue Reading

By: Lcioffibrachio May 16, 2012

How to take in a dress that is too big for you. So in one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that I was attending a wedding today. I bought this beautiful black lace dress with hot pink tones from the thrift store, and it was an xl (I am a small). I decided I would take the challenge and learn how to to take in a dress! Besides, the dress was less than 15 dollars so it didn't hurt to give it a try. It is a really simple process and the dress came… Continue Reading

Dip Dye Your Clothes

By: Lcioffibrachio May 16, 2012
Today I am going to talk a little about Ombre Style Dying for your clothes! I got my haircut recently by my friend and hairdresser Cherylin who told me the Ombre Hairstyle is really popular. It is a pretty fade out look where your roots start at your natural color and progressively lighten to your ends. I have a fairly darker shade of hair and could totoally see myself coloring it like this:   So then I started googling what other things you… Continue Reading

By: Jackyalsi Apr 28, 2012

diy chalk paint

I made these cute little chalk paint plaques for an Earth Day project this past sunday. I wanted to make something that would involve recycling and that would also save me money.

I planted a hanging herb garden (I posted the project tutorial over at smallgardenlove) in old tin containers that I had lying around. The cilantro and parsley, and basil and mint were looking to much alike. So I made these chalk paint plaques to be able to… Continue Reading

DIY Hanging Herb Garden

By: Jackyalsi Apr 28, 2012

DIY Hanging Herb Garden

For Earth Day this year I wanted to create something that was useful and involved recycling. So I decided on a hanging herb garden. I needed a new batch of herbs, the only survivor from the last time I planted herbs was a couple of types of basil. Everything else either died with the heat or got eaten alive by bugs.

This time will be different, hanging the herb garden will: help keep the bugs away and keep them cooler since they’ll get… Continue Reading

Vacation Seashell Art

By: Jackyalsi Apr 13, 2012

seashell artWe took a family trip a couple of summers ago to Captiva Island, Florida near Naples. We had a great time and among all the fun things we did we collected shells on the beach. I used some of them to create a little bathroom art fitting in with the beachy theme we had going.

The only problem was that when we painted and did our mini makeover early last year the frames no longer fit in with the rest of the decor. I recently revamped the… Continue Reading

Revamped Old Calendar Art

By: Jackyalsi Apr 13, 2012

revamped calendar art

We’ve had these four frames hanging in the guest bathroom for 3 years now and before that I had them for about 2 years. Not bad for a dollar store find. I got these cute little frames at The Dollar Tree and the sea themed art actually had a previous life as a calendar. I love using calendars for art, you get to look at something you love for a whole year and then you hang it up and enjoy it some more

I really liked them, but the thing… Continue Reading

DIY Blueprint Coasters

By: Jackyalsi Apr 13, 2012

diy blueprint coasters

I made some botanical old book page coasters as a present for my sister-in-law a few months ago. I really liked how they came out , so I decided to make another set. I originally intended to give them as a gift to a good friend, but I ended giving him something else. So I guess for now the coasters are mine.

I wanted to make them masculine so I decided to use blueprints. I basically did a google search and found several plans and… Continue Reading

Sunburst Mirror {Tutorial}

By: Jackyalsi Apr 13, 2012

 sunburst mirror

I love this sunburst mirror from Layla Grace, but at $308 a pop it just wasn’t in the budget. actually one mirror is more than the entire budget.

What I love most is the pattern. But in order to recreate it you have to get a little technical.

I Gathered my supplies; 5? mirror, cardboard, skewers and 5? brass ring. I traced the mirror onto a cardboard piece I was saving for a craft just like this. Glad I didn’t get rid of it, see… Continue Reading

Trust me on this one: Invest in your home

By: Marvinwindows Mar 20, 2012

With the real estate market slowly springing back, there is an underlying issue: your homes worth. Chances are there is a home -- or several homes -- in your area that has been foreclosed on. It's not only sad for the person or family that lived in that home but sad for you, as well, as it pertains to the overall value of your home.

The best option for many of us is to stay put, invest in what we have, and in doing so, increase your… Continue Reading
