wooden floors-loud

By megrockstar

I have gorgeous wood floors in my bedroom. Right now my shag carpet is at  the cleaners. When I get it back I want to put it down but I want it to definately suppress sound in the unit below(another bedroom directly below). Anty recommendations on a carpet pad or beyond? Any ideas?

maybe a store that sells musical instruments will have some suggestions.....

can't think of a better way to procrastinate at work that to search for items would make my home quieter!   good luck....

you're sweet. I looked around but it didnt seem anything easy. I either have to get way into the soundproofing world or not. i choose not:)

I will look more tomm when I am procrastinating at work!

All I can think of is the insulation foam that's used in music studios - (or rooms converted into a studio) but I don't know how that would work under a rug.......and I don't think that non-stick carpet pads work as soundproofing material, but maybe?  don't know......

Would love to know if you find anything.....

Don't know of any materials, but have you searched online for sound-proofing material? - maybe there's some type of foam insulation that's thin enough so that it doesn't bulk under the rug, but will help absorb the sound.
