I will get used to the new format.... i will.....

hey, I want to put a dimmer in my livingroom, i havea crazy/bright lamp( I may have posted a pic in the past)

can any numbskull do it? how tough? Im thinking next weekend. It would make a huge diff in my life, as sad as that is!:)

Touch any metal part of the lamp and it turns the lamp on dim, tap it again and it becomes brighter, tap it again and it is at it's brightest.  The next tap turns it off. Hope this helps.  I like them although they hog the outlet.

Im not seeing exactly how that works. you plug the lamp into it and then the neck of the lamp acts as a dimmer?

Is your light plugged in or hard wired?

I use these to give my lamps three light levels:  http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1820086

You plug them into your outlet and then plug your lamp into it.  Touch any metal part of the lamp to turn it on and to tap it brighter and dimmer.

I'm not sure if my lights are sucking more phantom energy though - my husband tends to think so

Also I don't know if you can use them with compact fluorescents

Changing to a dimmer is not hard but you need to know what you are doing!

Could you put in a different bulb?
