skylight change?

I am going to replace an old skylight this summer, I'm looking for any hints and/or suggestions. It is above my stairs and set back, and people don't even notice it. I'd like to make it more noticable. i have a nearly flat roof, very slight pitch... ideas... comments.... suggestions.... :) »MORE

remove a stripped screw?

I'm painting my cabinets and changing the hardware. I found a few of the screws have been stripped and a few are in a *tunnel*. I have no idea how to get these out! Help! I'm posting a kinda crappy pic but it wouldnt do any better:( the left is the inside stripped screw and the right is the outside! help! »MORE

over door laundry basket?

Im looking for an over the door laundry bag. Most of these get really tight as they fill up and hang over the door(see pic). I dont want that. I need something that is raised(preferably over the door) and hangs ncely. any thoughts? »MORE

frayed burber rug

I just got my stairs carpeted with a nice tight burber. 3 weeks later my dog has ripped up a few areas (dammit) on the stairs( on the edges). Right now the frayed part is hanging down. How can I fix this so that it looks okay but also has some sort of seal? any ideas? thanks! »MORE

wooden floors-loud

I have gorgeous wood floors in my bedroom. Right now my shag carpet is at  the cleaners. When I get it back I want to put it down but I want it to definately suppress sound in the unit below(another bedroom directly below). Anty recommendations on a carpet pad or beyond? Any ideas?  »MORE

Winter doorway curtain

I havea large door/opening in my livingroom that goes to my stairs. The problem is that in the ceiling there is a very old and sketchy skylight. So, In the winter the heat is sucked out and up and throught the light! To prevent this, I want to put a big tick curtain over the doorway in the winter. I have often seen them in resturaunts in the winter. i am weondering if anone has any suggestions on how to do this or any other ideas or suggestions?I need to post pictures!   »MORE

yucky fruit?

i had fruit on my counter that had aged. So, I noticed fruit flies and threw it all out and put the trash out and put te remainders in the fridge. But, nowe they seem to be multiplying and not disipating. So now thees alot of them in my kitchen and it's driving me crazy! Any tips on gettig rid of them. There is no fruit anywhere!Thanks  »MORE
