Beyond precious privacy, there is comfort. As an art teacher for an alternative education school (read: the "bad" kids) I'd give my entire salary for a nest so secluded and snug. Gratefully, I don't have to. 

 

I tend toward a classic (as opposed to contemporary) use of furnishings. Colors mean the world to me and I like monochromatic rooms, or rooms done in white with every other color in the furniture, linens and art. I treasure things that I have picked up in my travels, and incorporate them to convey a worldly feeling. I was also recently accused of overusing uplighting, but when your ceilings are low, you can't have too many uplights or plants!
