Dress Up the Kitchen

By lilybee

My (very brave) mum is hosting a dinner party for 35 this month. There will be a ginormous tree and a roaring fire, carefully grouped seating and good music. Of course the guests probably won't hear or see any of that, they'll be hanging out in the kitchen, all 35 of them.

Here are a few ways to extend your decorating in to the most used space in the house

Artfully arrange (or carelessly toss) a few baubles onto a cake stand (it's kind of Christmas tree shaped) or bung them in a large clear bowl.

Jam baubles and tinsel into large canning jars. I think this would work best in a group on an open shelf or windowsill.

I also quite like the idea of tying a few bows around shiny utensils and wooden spoons and sitting them in a vase, or mason jar. Unfortunately my utensils all look like they've survived the apocalypse and are not so much with the decorative.

Bringing out the fancy tea towels in another idea. They don't have to be snowman bedecked, but it wouldn't suck to have them match your colour scheme These ones from Williams-Sonoma, are on sale for $13.99

These fellows ($3.99 from Ikea) are festive but not christmassy, so yay year 'round appeal (and cheapness). But how cute would they look hung up like stockings and stuffed with little wrapped presents?
