Have The Greenest Tree Around

By lilybee

Cookies, berries and popcorn. Yummy. And the most ecologically sound way to decorate your tree. If your decorations are not eaten straight off the tree by naughty pooches (you know who you are... Dilly) then you can use them later to feed birds or pop them in the compost.

Popcorn, thread, needle and voila! A festive afternoon filled with delicious smells and a full tummy. Interspace the garland with dried cranberries and you have a delicious bird snack when you're done (be sure to separate them from salty popcorn). Image from Martha.

A garland of Kumquats, like this, can go straight into the composter when it's finished being festive. Also, how awesome a word is kumquat. Image from BHG

As for cookies, well, in my house cookies barely even make it off of the baking tray, let alone onto the tree. Folks who are more abstemious could try Tissuepapers Gingersaurus rex-ipe from right here on Curbly. Dinos are of course optional but I'm coming down on the side of 'yay!'.
