Ribbon Wreath
By lilybeeI heart wreaths on doors. Combine wreaths and ribbons and you've made my day. So thanks clever folks at The Long Thread for this bit O' lovely:

Yup, it is in black, cause this one was made as a Halloween decoration, but you can make it in the colours of your choice. Candy-striped cheerfulness maybe or swish red and silver, or maybe even multi-coloured with random bits from your monstrous and ever growing ribbon collection. Here's what you'll need,
- 12″ foam wreath form
- 24 yards 1 1/4″ black grosgrain ribbon (or less if using a wider ribbon)
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
It's creator says that it's probably best to buy the ribbon in bulk online rather than at craft stores as you'll need rather a lot. (Which I call the perfect excuse to browser window shop)
Head on over for the rest of the tutorial, and do post pictures on their flickr pool if you make one (and Here!) If you've never been to the Long Thread I suggest you mosey, nay, LOPE over ther. It is singularly brill.
What I particularly like about this is that you could make one for every season and holiday, you know, pink for Valentines, yellow and green for springtime, rainbowed for Pride, red white and blue for the 4h of July. (or red and white for Canada day).

Love this! I am definitely going to be making one in cheery lemon-yellow as my Christmas door wreath.

About 15 years ago Lynnette Jennings (I think a Canadian designer) did a grapevine wreath and matching door mat with grosgrain ribbon. She used lots of different coloured ribbon. The door mat was done with ribbon tied on just the outside edge (edge looked crocheted so it was easy to tie the ribbons on) and the wreath could be filled in any old way.
