Belt Up... Things To Do With Old Belts
By lilybeeHolding up pants is honorable work but it's possible that your belt is actually aspiring towards some other job, like organising jewellery, or being a handle on a storage box or even forming the seat of a sassy little stool. Readymade Magazine has the know-how to put your belt on a different career path.
Box Handles:
Add flair to basic storage boxes—and make them easier to pull down from your shelves—with pulls made from colorful belts. Using an X-acto knife, cut two vertical slits through the front of each box (as tall as the belt is wide), thread the cinchers through, and fasten in the front. Glue the rest of the belt around the inside edges of the box so it won’t interfere with the precious cargo within.

I went to two Goodwills today and both freaking stores distracted me and I forgot to look at the belts. Grrrrr. I am on an old/vintage suitcase bender. And a "fun plates to display" bender. I just seemed to have recovered from my glass/crystal candlestick bender and my picture frame bender and have already moved on. At least I seem to obsess about just a couple things at a time. Oh the obsessions. At least I am waaaay too poor to actually go TOO crazy.
I think I am finished rambling here.
Tomorrow might give an opportunity to seek out belts... *wicked grin*
P.S. Thanks for agreeing with me, qt. It makes me feel just a smidge less like nobody "gets" me. ;)

I'm in agreement w/Bethany. I really LUV the leather seat and box handles. I now want to scour every thrift store in my area for funky belts, especially, the retro ones -- I've got ooodles of ideas for them now.
I would definitely have to have a different belt if I were to consider it as a jewelery holder. Does give me something to think about ....though my boyfriend would say I already think waaaay too much!. ~;0)

I am not crazy about the belt as a jewelry holder, but I see the potential using a cooler belt. I adore the handle and seat ideas, though!
