Easy Wallpapering
By lilybee
Wallpapering gives me The Fear. What with the mess and the peeliness and the pattern repeats. The last time I tried it, well, there were tears, swearing and some bloodshed.
According to the folks at Real Simple it doesn't have to be that way. They have a quick how-to on using the newest, (less scary) wallpapers that abound these days, including Pre-Pasted, Paste-The-Wall and self adhesive paper.
To hang Paste-the-wall paper:
- Starting at the left-hand side of the wall, use a roller to spread the wallpaper paste evenly on the wall for the entire length of the strip and a bit wider than the paper’s width, if possible.
- Unroll about a foot of paper and position the top edge near the ceiling.
- Smooth the paper with a wallpaper brush ($3 at home-improvement stores), 10 to 12 inches at a time, as you unroll the paper.
Sounds easy enough, but I may be fooling myself. Anybody have any invaluable tips to add?
The image is from Timorous Beasties. Sigh. I hearts.
