Make Shiny Flowers

By lilybee

DiyMaven's post about the Cherry Blossom Lights made me drool, SO. PRETTTTTTY. MUST. HAVE. I'm going to get my sister in London to order them for me .... but in the mean time I made these:

I used some fake flowers from the Dollar Store...

...And Christmas lights, these fellows are the indoor/outdoor LED kind, so they don't get all toasty hot or use heaps of electricity.

I pulled the petal-y parts off of the stems, then enlarged the holes at the bottom so that they just squeezed over the light bulbs.

I jammed them on and, TA-DA, shiny flowers to go on my balcony.

I love it!  When I was in the hospital a year ago I was collecting the little cups they bring our meds in to make a set of party lights, but someone came while I was asleep one day and tossed them away!  I was so disappointed.  It was the only good thing about being in for 8 days and someone threw them all away!   Well now I'm going to dig out my stash of flowers that I bought when the flower pens were popular adn make these instead!  Thanks so much for the great idea!
