Someone will know how to do this...
By leslieinbhamI have several handmade by grandma pieces of lace, doily-like, I suppose and I want to display them on a wall as a series. The backpieces are identical, just set of linen pieces and I'm leaning toward a tapestry/texture-y mount, e.g., neither framed, nor behind glass. While leaning is fun, I can't figure out the steps to get it all from pieces to piece. Can't figure how to mount the lace onto the linen so that both retain shape and texture, can't figure how to hang them, even if I did figure out that first part, which is unlikely under the best of circumstances. Am considering that pasting the whole affair onto the wall will be my best bet (*sigh*) for desired effect. Also have misplaced camera. So there you go. What do you think?

Good suggestions. I'll add on.
Let us know what you eventually do and even if it's just a cell phone picture, give a results post!
Good luck!

I would suggest using spray fabric adhesive. and, would also suggest you use a shadow box frame, you want to keep the dust off. No frame, no glass means dust.

My mother used to do filet crochet names, and learned from her framer to lay out your piece on the backing and use a small knife to dab little bits of glue from a glue stick under some of the inner stitches and most of the outer stitches. It can be peeled off the backing and washed out later if you want to. Works best if you have blocked and/or starched your pieces.
Another way is to simply use tiny stitches in a matching thread to sew it to your backing. It is a little more time consuming that way, but it won't ever peel away like the glue stick can.
Hope this helps!
