I was in Melbourne earlier this year and I stumbled upon this cool gallery/shop in the GPO (General Post Office) Building. I love the screenprints, they're so pretty!!! Check them out at

Ghosts of Buildings Past

By kirs10 Dscn2959_large

These silhouttes/remnants of buildings past are really intriguing and quirky. I like them cause it makes one ponder about what once occupied the site. This particular one was taken on Albert Street just off Queens Street Mall in Brisbane. The next image was taken in Melbourne, I can't remember where exactlybut it was in the CBD.

Yeah mate, it's definitely not what people would associate with architecture on first impulse, but then the sudden realisation dawns that it totally makes sense cause stadiums (and the like) are a building type too!

It's kinda hard to explain what I do (without omitting jargon and boring you all) but suffice to say that sports architecture is all about enhancing spectator experience at a game/race.

What does this mean? Well...nothing quite beats watching a game live - the Superbowl for you all in America; the Rugby World Cup/Super 12, for us here in Oz -, and being able to do that in a comfortable and safe environment in a kick arse awesome building is pretty sweet.

Check out the Allianz in Munich where the Soccer World Cup was hosted

Sport architecture! Cool! I didn't even know that existed. Can you tell us more?
