Any ideas on how to sell this house? :)
By jrysavy
Seriously, does anyone have advice on how to get this baby sold? Realtors just don't seem to get it. I would describe it as a modern cottage. Three bedroom, three bath, 2 subzeros, wolf stove, metal roof, the works. The entire house is wired with sound in all rooms (including the screen porch and outdoor patio area with the fireplace). For the entertainment geeks out there, the home theater system puts movie theaters to shame. Heated floors (radiant) in the basement and garage, and the list goes on and on. Some of my other posts show features of the house, like the bath tub that lights up, climbing area, the magnet doors, etc.
But when comparing it to houses that are on the market, realtors just say "well, it's not a lot of » READ MORE
Office Art (we're there more than our homes)

What the heck do you do with all those business cards? Do you still have a rolodex that you actually use? Not me. While most business cards aren't that attractive, when you hang them all up next to each other on a big wall, you have a beautiful piece of art. Well, I like it anyway. Of course, my business is design so maybe it's more appropriate for me. This photo shows about 1/5 of the cards on my wall, and there's still a few more (hundred) that I have to hang up. I'm hoping to get my entire office (the blank walls) covered some day. Want to contribute? Send me your card: Catalyst Studios, 126 N 3rd St, Suite 200, Minneapolis, MN 55401
Indoor climbing wall, ladder and rings

I have two boys. And they have a TON of energy. These were a cheap purchase at Ikea, but boy do they come in handy. I hung them all in about a 4 foot area, so they don't take up much space at all. But every time the boys walk by them, they swing, climb, pull up, play games, and more. Once in a while, I have to step back and watch out for a swift kick, but having them burn some energy on a rainy or cold day (or whenever), sure helps. Hard to capture a good picture, but they're pretty basic.
My bathtub lights up. The walls are indestructible. So is the floor.

When building my house, I had no idea that simple lines on a bath tub face were impossible to find. Came up with this idea to put a cheap flourescent shop light back there and use skyglass as the face of the tub. There are access points on either side after putting fake cold air returns on the walls. And Voila! A built in, mega-cool night light.
Another noteable feature in this indestructible kids bathroom...the backsplash features a stainless steel (sheet metal) surround. So bring it on Transformers. Bring it on sharp objects...let's see you try to destroy these walls! Oh, go for the floors too, they're stained unpenetrable concrete.
magnet door

Sorry, this topic has two posts, but thanks to ben, it reminded me of the $20 or under contest.
My builder gave me the sheets of metal, and after adding 6 screws and some spray adhesive, I have magical magnetized doors.
Make your door more useful...magnet style.

You could do this on any door, but it worked out really well on the closet doors in my kid's room. The sheet metal is held on by 6 screws and then to avoid warping, glued with some industrial type glue. Pretty cool and pretty darn useable.
