Make these colourful shoe drying racks
By insidesignI came across this really cool DIY project by Rockport when browsing the Canadian House and Home site, and wanted to share with all you design savvy people! :) They are shoe drying racks that can be hung on the back of a door [to save space, of course] on your laundry wall or mud room. I'll post the instructions below, you can get the instructions with the diagrams here. Enjoy!

Materials:
- 1; 8” x 22” piece of 3⁄4” pine board
- 1; 6 foot length of 3⁄4” panel molding
- 4 large cabinet knobs with screws
- screwdriver to tighten knobs
- Mitre box and small saw, or power mitre saw
- wood glue
- wood filler
- sand paper (120 grit)
- 15-20; 1” finishing nails
- Drill with 1/4” drill bit.
- primer and your choice of enamel based paint
1. Measure molding, and mitre corners using miter box and hand saw or power miter saw. Each corner should be cut to 45 degrees, so that each corner meets up flush.
2. Affix 3⁄4” molding around all four edges of board using wood glue and 1” finishing nails.
3. Countersink nail heads; then fill with wood filler. Allow wood filler to dry, then sand.
4. Prime and paint rack in colour of your choice.
5. Drill 1⁄4” holes spacing the two top and two bottom knobs at a distance apart that will accommodate the length of a shoe.
6. Install knobs into drilled holes with screws provided with knobs.
