Let the games begin: Project 1
By inkyRI just quit my job and will begin academic reasearch on Jan. 8. I needed a space that was a little more open than the bedroom (where our computers are) and had more natural light. Our condo is small with only two small bedrooms (the kiddo occupies the second), and although I've been fully moved in for almost three weeks, most of my stuff is still in boxes or in the garage at my grandmother's house.
Our dining room is off the kitchen and opens into the living room. As you can see in the second photo has a little eating bar.
We have agreed to turn the dining room into an office space for my work. Here is the dining room pre-move in.
I spent a couple of hours at Lowe's trying to find the perfect color for my new room. I wish I had some kind of advice or a tip or three to give about choosing paint. I don't. The truth of the matter is that there are hundreds upon hundreds of colors to choose from. You can find "Bamboo" in a green shade or a brown/neautral shade. This doesn't make it very easy, does it? *grin*
Aiming at a calm feeling and to follow the natural theme with the many trees and little creek outside the window of the dining room, I decided on a tame color called "Sweet Annie". The name doesn't tell you much about the color, but's it's a delightful shade of green.
We have vaulted ceilings. I'm only 5'1". It's time to buy a ladder!

Never mind the ugly chairs on the deck. They're prepped for the D.I.

This the lovely view. :)
We also plan to remove and replace the lighting hanging from the ceiling, add a few shelves, add some plants, and, of course, change the window dressings to shears and drapes.
