Now & Zen

By inkyR

I keep up to date on trendy and semi-trendy - as well as not-so-trendy - home improvement and home therapy ideas through various RSS feeds I subscribe to. The art of the blog has really come a long way developing into more than just a place for chatty, bored (albeit funny) mamas and metropolitain singles looking for love. Its use as a way to gather all kind of ideas and information in one place and collaging it all together has become and every day convenience. Like buying music on the internet. Sometimes, I find myself wishing I could just grab the Apartment Therapy "catalogue" from my desk to flip through while I watch the next installment of Weeds - and then I remember that Apartment Therapy a blog. I think that’s similar to wanting to hit Backspace when I am creating a flipchart. Not possible. But, I digress.

In my daily home therapy search, I ventured across these Stretch and Cover expandable slip covers. Our sofas are in really good condition, if out-dated, and we have been talking about buying slip covers for them. We decided on something easily washable since we have a kid and two cats. At first, I thought to myself, Self, these are way cool therefore, will be far too expensive.

I think I found our new slipcovers. They are spendy, but we’re adding it into the budget. Afterall, you get what you pay for. In the end, they are much cheaper than a new sofa set. And we just bought a $3600 mattress set. :o

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

My next pricey expense is a Now & Zen alarm clock. They run about $110 online (yes, even new on e-Bay), but the chime that comes out of these triangular wonders is delightful. It is the best way to wake up in the morning. If you have ever meditated in a studio, the sound from the Now & Zen alarm clock is similar to one the meditation facilitator will create at the end of a meditation session with her symbols. It’s very light and easy. Everyone in the world should wake from sleep with such a graceful sound. It’s a very pleasant experience. This is also going on the Things We Want list. Or, as his mother would say, something we can get for FREE "if we ever get married!"
