Hi, I'm Sarah-Beth. I live in Seattle with my partner, two cats, and one three-year-old kiddo in a two-bedroom condo.

Mission: Impossible?

Our mission for the next year is to paint, shelve, and modernize this 1984 condo. Most of the appliances are original. We have limited room, a small storage nook, and minimal closet space throughout our home. If you visit, you will also notice many walls...high, vaulted white-washed, dirty walls. Watch us work a miracle!

I love earthy, natural and bright tones, natural light, and a more modern flair. My favorite color mixes are dark with light: dark brown-blacks with light, earthy blue or a promising, calming green.

Trivia

In the past, I have had bedrooms with walls laced in pink/hearts, soft purple, and a marigold yellow. My favorite was marigold. We're currently going for a rich, deep red with a lighter earth tone + pale, heavy orange to accent.

I recently quit my job to finish some research. I study social youth issues + community development.

In my free time, I write, volunteer, and practice yoga. I'm currently writing & producing a four part youth literary anti-censorship workshop.

I blog (sometimes) at inkyrenegade.com.

I just quit my job and will begin academic reasearch on Jan. 8. I needed a space that was a little more open than the bedroom (where our computers are) and had more natural light. Our condo is small with only two small bedrooms (the kiddo occupies the second), and although I've been fully moved in for almost three weeks, most of my stuff is still in boxes or in the garage at my grandmother's house. Our dining room is off the kitchen and opens into the living room. As you can see in the second photo has a little eating... »MORE

Painting over pressboard: Yeay or nay?

By inkyR Img_0295_medium

We have cupboards made of what I think is pressboard. They are very plain, look like wood, but actually aren't. I am interested in painting the cupboards as well as the wood boarder around the counters.Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a good way and/or a bad way (to avoid)? I am trying to avoid further tackiness, but the pressboard look is just killing me. I'd like them to look more modern without having to replace them (yet, anyway!)   »MORE

Love your clippings!

And I love that you're writing a youth literary workshop. Go get 'em tiger... from one Target lover to another!
