How To: Rip a Heart out of Someones Chest

By indymogul

If you've seen "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" 'you'll know one of the greatest special effects of the film is where Mola Ram rips the heart out of someone's chest. In this intstructable Indy Mogul shows you how to create the effect, with only $10. Don't forget to check out our previous episode on how to create a fake heart..

You Will Need:

1. old pillow

2. old plastic food container

3. aluminum foil

4. 16oz fake blood

5. Red Spray Paint

6. old shirt

7. duct tape

8. Hot Glue Gun

9. fake heart (or a potato)

In this episode we used a peeled potato for a heart.  In a previous episode of Indy Mogul, we created a more using pumps and balloons.  But this a good alternative.

Take the Potato and peel off all of the skin.  Next shape the potato into a rough heart-like shape.

Next Spray the Potato with red spray paint.

Fill the old plastic food container with 16oz of fake blood, and put the potato inside.

Next, lay hot glue around the outside of the container, and place the aluminum foil on top.  Make sure you secure the foil, so that no blood drips out of it when it is turned sideways.  Then cut off the excess foil.

Using the duct tape, mold the pillow into a chest shape (we tightened the pillow, using two long pieces of tape, about 3/4 of the way up).

Next, trace the shape of the plastic container, and mark it with the duct tape.

Cut the container's shape out of the pillow, and pull out the stuffing for that area only.

Place the container into the pillow, and secure it by adding some more duct tape around the edges of the container.

Prop your pillow dummy vertically, and clothe it with the old shirt.

Then dig in!
