Modern OUTDOOR rugs?

By incubus_of_habit

Anyone have any sources of nice, modern outdoor rugs?

We need a rug for our basement remodel, but we need one that can withstand moisture coming through the slab over time. There's a variety of polypropelne rugs out there, but all we've found in terms of colors/ patterns are either ones that attempt to look like Jute (tan) or ones with more traditional patterns on them.

Thanks...those are decent. Again, though...same question...do you know if those rugs can 'breath'?

I'm finding that what I really need is a brethable rug moreso than an outdoor one. The issue is that our moisture is coming from BELOW the rug...which is making this abit of a challenge. ;)

I like these.  Colorful and plastic (so you can wash them).

They have others with more modern designs.

I've painted several of these rugs. The first one I did--a couple of years ago--had this weird black backing. Although I'm not sure what it was--I'm pretty sure it wasn't rubber. (With exposure to the elements, it did start coming off in bits.) This last one--the one featured in the post--probably had SOME sort of backing but it was clear. Maybe it had been fused...? When rained upon, it will of course hold the water. When left  overnight, there isn't an issue with dew accumulating underneath. As far as wicking is concerned, I'm not sure. However....they are really inexpensive rugs--like the post said, 10 to 20 bucks. You could try one and see what happens.

Well...that *is* an interesting idea! Do you know much about the indoor/outdoor carpet?

The main issue is we need a rug that can breath. This isn't a standing water issue, but rather a hydrostatic preasure/moisture issue. Whatever we put on the floor, we just don't want it to trap water underneath.
