Thinking Outside of the Shipping Container

By gregoryjohnson

Okay, so some people are in love with shipping containers. They're colorful. They're stackable. They look like big LEGOs. But now these "container huggers" have gone too far! They are living in them, stacking them up, and building cities of shipping containers! See for yourself, if you dare... www.ContainerCity.com. Warning: The preceding website contains graphic urban images of colorful shipping containers.

Hi Gregor, This really is the future of housing as I see it cheap, strong, abundent, compact, modular need I go on. Certainly the direction we should be going to solve the shortage of cheap housing in and around our cities. And cheers for the link to Life Mobility Transportation Group Ill be sure to check it as often as possible.

I saw the Ashes and Snow exhibit in NYC at the Nomadic Museum at Pier 54 a year ago. The entire museum setting (which evoked a high gothic cathedral) was constructed from 148 shipping containers and giant cardboard tubes. It's designed to be broken down and transported around the world, making art accessible internationally.
