In real life, I am not bitmappy as my profile photo would suggest. That's the largest photo I had on hand when I joined up. :-) I'm a do-it-yourself kind of person, with not enough money to buy all the materials!

I just painted the living room and dining room, removing some huge dark maroon drapes. Now I don't know what to do with the windows.
Blinds? Curtains? Cellular shades? Combination???
I don't want the big long drapes... and I don't want the interior shutters (too big for this size room?)
Please have a look at this dining room and living room before and after photo and give me your opinion on what to do with the windows. The room at bottom is what it looks like now (i.e., blue wall.)

hmm well i love the shade of blue very similar to mine...one exception...your room is much larger than mine...ok im jealous...now about those windows.hmm...well i would on first instinct say to slipcover the couch possibly because i think plaid makes it hard to pick window treatments and then go with a thick vertical striped curtain... i know really exsp.$$$ but pottery barn has great curtains with blues/blacks/whites/tans in vertical stripes...but if you at leaste check out the web page you will get an idea of what i mean.
im going with more of a modern look with lots of straight edges...for instance, i found an old arial of the town i live in...its actually a drawing from the 1800's that shows all the buildings and street names. anyways i cut it into 12 pics and blew them up and then framed then individuall...and am going to hang them symetrically on my blue wall... and some floating black shelves and ill almost be done. im going with almond slip covers and blue cushions...with me luck i have a big dog that loves the couch.eiks.
