I’m Frances. I’m twenty-eight and female and I recently moved from New York City, which I lived in or around for my whole life, to Cottonwood, Arizona, which, in comparison, is essentially the middle of nowhere. Out here, people drive pick up trucks and refrigerators are the size of small houses. In about a year, I plan to head to the Northwest to settle down, but in the meantime, I have a house to renovate. I live with my fiance, Dan, a tortoiseshell cat named Kovick, and a yellow Labrador puppy named Bix. I work as a freelance consultant in web strategy and design.
Current obsessions: crochet, vintage scarves, bubble gum, dog-eared paperbacks, mix discs, packages in the mail, yoga, things that are colored mint green, red, and teal, handbags, collage, polka dots, fresh herbs, cheese, ice cream, hiking.

Worst Nightmare Territory

Not really a question, more like a shocked discovery along with helpless jaw-dropping. As some of you may know, I'm in the midst of helping out on a renovation of a total crapshoot of a house, a circa-1920s oddity that may have been literally rolled down a mountain from an old mining town. The place is filled with weird doors and crazy floorboards -- rooms seem to have been added willy-nilly over the years; bizarre crayon drawings line the inside of the old closets; the furnace is from the dawn of time; and nothing, nothing, is level.Needless to say, it's been... »MORE
