Picture_009_medium bruno 52 posts Hey all, I’m Bruno, and I’m the founder of Curbly.com. I started this site in October 2006 as a way of writing, learning and sharing my interest in home improvement and DiY. Since then the site has taken off, with thousands of users joining and creating amazing, interesting and downright ingenious posts.
I live in St. Paul, Minnesota, with my (new) wife Alicia. Our house (which has figured in several episodes of The Fix Its ) is our constantly evolving project (and playground). Built in 1912, it’s a little drafty in the winter, but in my mind, it makes up for that with great charm, original woodwork and a great, open floorplan.

The first fifty people to introduce themselves on this thread will be entered in a random drawing to win $100 Amazon gift card. All you have to do is be one of the first fifty people to participate on this thread

Rosie_2_medium DIY Maven 42 posts

Hello fellow Curblians, I’m DIY Maven and one of the featured writers on Curbly. When I answered Bruno’s ad on Craig’s List for DIY Writers back in October ‘06, little did I know it would turn out to be such a fun gig! Writing about DIY blends two of my passions in life. MWT (that’s Man With Tools) and I have remodeled three of our own homes from, literally, top to bottom, we’ve also done a few remodeling jobs on homes that didn’t even belong to us! When I’m not writing for Curbly, I’m writing fiction (short stories and novels).
MWT and I live in Eden Prairie, MN, a southwestern suburb of Minneapolis. Our house is a sturdy ranch style. I’ve come to appreciate it’s draftiness as I like the fresh air! ;) We’ve lived here for awhile now and are actually RE-remodeling some of our first remodeling projects. MWT says that’s a sure sign it’s time to move!
We just finished tiling our laundry room, which is in the basement. (We decided if your laundry room has to be in the basement, it should at least look fabulous, thus the tiling.) Next will be our furnace room and then a call to the carpet layers for new wall-to-wall. After that, we plan on re-tiling our upstairs bath and put in a new vanity. And after THAT, MWT is going to break out his woodworking tool as we’re thinking about making wooden panels to apply to our refrigerator doors. It’s always something around here—-and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hello Curbly. I’m in New York with very limited space and limited resources trying to organize all my stuff in a room a little bigger than my bed. As a result I’ve been building up as high as I can. I like shelves and other good storage solutions.

First! uh no :-)
It’s been a little since I’ve last visited curbly and I’m really surprised about the new look and feel.
However. I’m a 33 year old geek living in good old Germany and I’m always interested in seeing interesting ways of using stuff in a different way than it was supposed to be.

I am really into high modern, retro modern, and mid-century modern design. I work as a senior art director for http://www.maxmediadesign.com. Please say hello to me through curbly.

Hello All,
I was once a home owner and look forward to purchasing again now that I’ve lived in Austin for a few years. My strengths are in general construction but I also own three sewing machines for what that’s worth ;-) I’m interested in upholstery, re-purposed furniture, and anything DIY.

Hi I’m Aaron Harlow, I am a professional Graphic Designer. I co-own my own company Blackwood Media (working on a new site as we speak). I am a lover of all the arts and my wife and I are chomping at the bit to get a home of our own so that we can go nuts moving walls, buying-restoring-building cool furniture, painting, and of course decorating. I grew up with a father that taught me how to work with wood, metal, paint, and cars (and just about everything else mechanical). One of my most cherished lesson I learned from my parents was the art of ingenuity and creativity. Give me a goal and a pile of stuff, and I’ll build it, and it will look cool (hopefully).
Much luv to all my curb dwellers!

I’m J. J. from Denver, Colorado – in the past I have been a faux finisher, I have done many special event designs for things like Holidays at the IceHouse and other Holiday events. I am hunting for a design related job – or project at present. Amongst the things which I’ve done at The Rosemary Tree is a line of pillows – Classic Cushions – the BookShelf pillow and right now a line of fabric greeting cards with fabric envelopes.

Hi everyone, I’m Cheryll, from Ann Arbor, MI, USA. I’m one of the ‘oldies’—meaning I’m a source for how to do stuff in my area…I’m presently living in an apartment complex full of college students! Oh, and I’m the one with the tools in my family, LOL. Been there, done stuff, now I want to retire. I cook, knit, clean, write, teach crafts, sew, keep the books and do the taxes. Oh, and garden on my 3rd floor balcony in 4 planter boxes until such time as I can have a house and garden again. Love Curbly!

Hi All, I’m Jenna Belle (that’s my real middle name!) and I like to think I’m crafty, although I recently graduated from college, so I’m just now finding time to get back to my crafty roots. I like to reuse things and go about things in a backwards way, but I usually like the outcome. I dabble in almost everything, but I’m most excited about getting back into sewing- I made a ball gown for my prom dress when I was 16 and by the time I graduated high school I couldn’t find time to keep with the sewing. I’m a proud cat mom, indecisive as all get out and a self proclaimed nerd.

Hi, I’m ModHomeEcTeacher from Carmel, Indiana. I am an artisan, upholsterer, teacher and seamstress. Love Curbly.

Friends, my name is Chris. I’m a musician, maker, a seamster-in-process, music instructor, and a children’s and youth minister. Mostly, I’m a full time graduate student, and anticipate finishing in May. Then, after 20 years of being in school, I guess I’ll have to grow up… which scares me. Alot.
I’m into film studies, rock and roll history, cooking meat-free meals, social justice, and taking bubble baths. I actually hate where I live, so I’m happy to use Curbly-ish projects to make it a little more bearable. The non-lease violating projects are coming to an end, so I’m ready to move on. We hope to buy our first house this summer, which will hopefully lead to all kinds of cool stuff to share with Curbly.
In a few weeks, I’ll have a home on the web at www.chrisjob.com, so visit me there soon.
Cheers.
