a recent work I am hoping to have in the shop soon. I had a shadow box and an old wind up travel clock. Some how they just belonged together.

A friend of mine did these drawings - using Japanese calligraphy paint brushes. using that as inspiration, i took a sheet of MDF, my trusty Dremel router and a pint of black paint to create the above... found the kanji symbols online (cant remember what they mean but they were power words of one form or another) drew them on the MDF and went to town.
for the paint treatment, i tried to do a crackled finish using white glue & a blow dryer that didn't work quite right but i left it there anyway . then went in with gold paint for the kanji symbols - the picture is self is surface mounted under a sheet of plexi

bought the clock at Bed Bath & Beyond - coudlnt figure out what to do behind it so was bored one day & went nuts with the sky blue background & then white & black paints and a bunch of old plastic grocery bags crumpled up to make the texture of the clouds. started with the darkest color for the clouds & then layers lighter & lighter paints on top to give the clouds some dimension.
