CraigsListRoundup: Thursday, Feb. 8th!
By erinloechnerJust in time for Thursday's edition, packrats of Los Angeles offer four new styles of one of my FAVORITE things: coffee tables! All with a touch of glass, these tables are sure to liven up any space.
Modern Glass-Topped Coffee Table: $30
From IKEA (where else?!), this coffee table is best for the modern fan. I love this design, b/c it's so versatile. Stack a few fashion mags on the wood for a convenient display case, or leave it open to maximize your space.
My favorite part? The wheels and casters provide an easily accessible coffee table from any area in the room. Perfect for a small apartment, you can cast your table off to the side or prop it in a corner for entertaining.

Glass Top Round Glass-Top Table: $40
Again, a modern take on a traditional idea. I like the thought of placing this table in a small kitchen, to maintain space in an ordinarily tight space. The benefits of glass furniture are obvious: rather than placing a wood, boxy table, you get the illusion of a continued horizon, allowing you to see more of the room and less of the objects.
I also am a huge fan of a circular table in the kitchen for one basic reason: the shape of the object provides balance against the rectangular cabinets and appliances (assuming no one has a spheric microwave, that is).

Glass-Top End Table: $5
A weird one, yeah. But I think it could work paired with a few funky leather pieces and some throw pillows. And hey, if your name is Zeek or Zelda, this may just be the end table for you.
Would be cool if you've got an architectural loft with open plumbing to reflect the shapes of the exposed walls. Not loving it with this carpet-- maybe a white shag rug would make the black pop more, allowing the shape to stand out, rather than the flooring.
Cool find, and for $5, you can't really go wrong.

Smokey Glass-Top Coffee Table: $75
A rare find for a fellow clean freak. Smoked glass is one of the hardest things to keep spotless, b/c you see every flaw through the reflection. BUT, you get a great effect in the room when kept clean and orderly.
Best left without a centerpiece, as pictured, but paired with some clean-lined furniture to accent the modern legs of the table. Kept in a room that's less busy than this one, you've got yourself a focal point for the room.
Last thing: keep the rug simple. You don't want anything competing with this beauty.

Long story short, with any of the above additions, you'll go to the head of the glass in Style101!
Check back next Tuesday for more CLR fun!
