Garage 101: Paint Continued...

By erinloechner

The good news? My paint arrived today in the cutest little sample kit from Behr.

The bad news? My color options were WAY off from the design Ken and I are going for.

Back to the drawing board, I suppose. Any recommendations? Our ideal palette is a chocolate brown with just a splash of deep, but bright orange. None of this Sunkist/Self-Tanner stuff.

I think we'll have to throw in the towel and head to Home Depot.

Wish us luck!

BTW Sherwin Williams replaced it's Martha Stewart line w/a new designer line of primarily earth tones - definitely check them out.

Lowes has pint size samples now for $3 - Sherwin Williams has quart sized for $5 - these are totally helpful. I tried about 3 or 4 different colors before I found the right one w/o spending a wad of $$$. Also, I picked up some paint dyes from a home dec shop - excellent for tweaking colors - I always add a shot of green to my yellowish browns to get rid of the 'baby poop' cast...

Hopefully Home Depot will follow suit. All they have last time I checked are itty bitty Ralph Lauren premixed samples for $3...
