CraigsListRoundup: Thursday, March 1!
By erinloechnerHappy March everyone!
In honor of DIY Maven's latest expert lighting review, today's CLR is dedicated to the light of our lives: the lamp. Check out the hottest finds from L.A's best:
Modern Lucite Lamp: $149
Now THIS is my kind of piece. Trust me, I'm a self-proclaimed flea market freak, and I have never laid eyes upon such a beautiful (and affordable!) piece of lucite in my life.
This lamp would look stunning in a bright white office suite with orange accents and stainless finishes. I'd pair it with an orange shag shade for maximum impact and a touch of modern groove.
Finish the look with some white open shelving and some vintage artwork and you've got yourself the most stylish space around.
See? You really CAN build a room around just a lamp...

Horse Lamp: $35
Ok, is it me, or does this scream the ORIGINAL Jonathan Adler craze? I love this look; an obvious antique, but with such a modern design? Proof that our parents really weren't as crazy as we think they were...
I'd switch out the shade here and pair the horse with a lime green shade to make it stand out. Something very nontraditional, maybe a rectangle shade with very little detailing. Something sleek to focus all of the attention on the base, b/c hey, it's not every day you get to keep a horse in your living room...

1960's George Nelson Original: $500
Oh my gosh, I feel faint. An original George Nelson? I think I'm melting.
The great thing about George Nelson pieces are that anyone can fall in love with them; you don't have to be a collector to know that five hundred bucks for a one-of-a-kind lamp is so worth it, George Nelson or not.
But THIS lamp? This lamp is to DIE for.
This lamp would cause one to instantly transform their haven into a Danish Love Nest, full of rich neutrals and a hint of orange.
I think I'm in love.

Zen Lamp: $20
And on the other side of the spectrum, twenty bucks for a lamp ain't half bad. And for THIS lamp? I'm sold.
I'd piece this lighting in a Mediterranean living room, with a low coffee table and tons of pillow seating. And hey, what better way to disguise a low ceiling than to minimize everything else in the room? Have a small, stuffy apartment? Open up the ceiling space with low, unbulky furniture that can move around for different purposes. It's my favorite trick for an instant space makeover.
I'd love some deep mahogany and eggplant accents with this lamp, along with some live plants: Instant Zen. And hey, burn some incense while you're at it--- it's time to live a little.

Oh, wow. That lucite lamp is completely lovely.
I think you're right about the horse lamp being "the original Jonathan Adler craze" but I think that's because Jonathan Adler is really just pulling from the 1950s and 60s; none of his stuff strikes me as all that original.
