DIY Photo Wall Update

By erinloechner 387991562_d46c46df93_b

It's been awhile since I've checked out this tutorial (which is fabulous, by the way), and in doing so, I'm immediately reminded of Flickr member SimplyPhoto and her excellent photo wall. Want a wall similar to hers? No problem. WHAT YOU NEEDBinder clips, paperclips, mini-clothespins... the gamut. You can find these at any local craft or office supply store.Fishing wire, which you can find at any local sporting goods store. Two pushpins for each row of photos you wish to create. WHAT YOU DOIt's simple as pie. Wrap your fishing wire around one push pin and tie securely. Take the remaining... »MORE

Think Spring? Think Clean.

By erinloechner 0805_cover_350

Spring cleaning is like my LEAST favorite thing to do in the entire world. So naturally, it's a good thing the brains over at Real Simple have created the MOTHER of all Spring Cleaning Tutorials. I've listed a few of my favorite tips below, but feel free to check out Real Simple's archives for more fabulous expert advice! WALLS Arrange furniture six inches from walls instead of flush against them so there will be fewer smudges from bumping to tend to later. You’ll also have easier access to dusty corners that need a visit from a dust mop. FLOORSEighty percent... »MORE

The steel was about $7 a sheet 24 x 36 ". I used tinsnips to cut it to size and the filing took about 15 min. per piece b/c I wanted it perfect (no nicks and cuts for my houseguests!) I would say that once you had the measurements & the materials you could get the project done in an afternoon. Maybe two if you have a bunch of doors. The project cost me about $30! So cheap! I will try to post a close up of the bolts and the backside of the doors soon....

Hey!

Thanks for putting my project on your blog. Sometimes  restrictions force us to come up with an amazing solution, and this was one of those times!  Love your ideas and your sense of color- great work!
