I'm moving to Seattle and need advice

Fellow Seattle-ites, tell me all about your city! We are moving to Seattle for a minimum of 6 months for a new project and I know nothing about the city! What is a good neighborhood to get a nice apartment? Perhaps a furnished executive suite so I don't have to buy new furniture? Is there a loft district? Or an artists district? Is there an area that is more eco-friendly than another? Or an area that is kid friendly without being dirty? One with a clean park? What are some cool places there? Vintage Belt Floor Mat

I have been looking for a nice floor mat for my desk chair. I wanted to find a way to avoid that nasty plastic thing you get from office stores. And low and behold- I found this friggin awesome rug made from old belts! I know i could totally DIY this using old belts (I happen to have a ton on hand since giving birth. I don't think I will ever be a size 2 again) I think perhaps a piece of vinyl flooring and then somehow liquid nail on the belts and trim off the ends. I don't know... »MORE

Hey man, do you party?

I'm thinking of creating a design event in Southern California at my bricks and mortar business. Its in an 11,000 square foot office/warehouse space in Long Beach, (a good central location).  The warehouse  has a loft that would be great for a band, also the  ceiling is 29 feet high so some sort of visual display would work nicely.  There is a ton of empty office space that perhaps a few choice designers could make into interactive roomscapes and/or display art and design pieces. Paper to Canvas

How do I update my indoor waterfall?

We recently moved into this incredible mid century modern gem. The house is a rental. The guy that owns the house (Mike) grew up in it. When it was built in 1960 the house was featured in Sunset magazine. Mike's father turned the back patio into a closed in family room and added a waterfall. It may sound weird but it is such a cool room. It is very large and very well done.
