Hi elizabethperry, thanks for being my new friend. I paint a bit myself. I also design and sew decorative pillows.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that you made treasure maps while growing up!

Hi, MizK.

Not  far away at all - and both river towns.  Glad you like my blog, and yes, of course I am a Danny Gregory fan!  I'm a lapsed member of the Everyday Matters Yahoo group (the traffic got overwhelming and I didn't have enough time to do it justice) but I still follow some group members' blogs. Thanks!

Cool you! I'm looking for folks that aren't terribly horribly out of the way...Love your blog. Danny Gregory fan?

And a painting a month you will see - I am over the moon with delight.  What a way to begin the year.  Thank you all.

Congratulations Elizabeth! Can't wait to see how you put your new supplies to work. We're all expecting a painting a month now, you know ;)

I just discovered sketchblogging.  Saw some of your October sketches on clusterflock.  Really good stuff.

Hi Elizabeth! Stiffish ribbon will work for the folded paper stars. I made a few dozen a while back using the smooth satin paper ribbon you can buy at Hallmark. The only issue I had with it was that it was slippery, so I had to sort of hold everything together as I tucked and folded. Also, when I finished, I had to use a little hot glue to keep the stars from slipping apart. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!!

Yes, I have.  It's the only way I can draw my left hand...  but  you are right - surprising what you discover when you let go of trying to get it exactly right.  (Not unlike my approach to DIY, too!)  My working philosophy these days is taken from the writer G.K. Chesterton, who said, "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly."
